Dum dum da-dummm…

dum dum da dummm, dum dum di-dumm dummm, dum dum da-dummm.

You know that’s how the song goes. And this time of year – wedding season – you are probably gearing up to hit up a couple of these shindigs yourself. Or your in one – or 7.       I love a good wedding. I really love a good reception, but this isn’t about me.

This is about Jen and Michael and a little save-the-date. JW

In a nutshell, I work with Jen. She’s one of the nicest, most efficient, organized, diplomatic, sweetest, professional people I know. She truly is a great human being. I was thrilled to pieces she asked for my hand…in designing her wedding collateral suite. We got started a few weeks ago with this little baby and will be moving on to the big guns – the invitations.

Congrats Jen and Michael, may your future be as beautiful as your save-the-dates. ;)

The YMCA held it’s ‘Better Together Celebration’ – a.k.a The Annual Meeting – last week at the Knight Theater. Attendees received this year’s ‘Impact Report’ – a.k.a. The Annual Report – upon arrival. Below is the front cover – which … Continue reading

What’s the 411?

Image

Wow. I have not posted since October 2012. Where does the time go? I’m still employed by the Y. I still have a job. (Thank you, God.) I’ve changed my hair color a couple of times. Got yet another dog. (Willie makes 3.) Been busy.

But guess what time it is?!?!? Annual Report time around here! Come on – who doesn’t love a good pie chart? Amiriiiiight?

Anywho-for this year’s report, my people said, ” WE WANT INFOGRAPHICS!”. Well, I like infographics. I’ve never created an infographic, but I like them well enough. And given the custom information in these bad boys, no generator in the world was going to help.  So along with the Annual Report layout and design this year, I created three original infographics that lie within its pages. The printed size of each is 10 X 17.
Info

The three infographics address issues within our local communities that the YMCA supports with fundraising efforts: Out-Of-School Programs, Diabetes Prevention and Youth Sports. Through the generosity of our donors, the YMCA ensures that our neighbors have the opportunity to reach their potential. No child, family or adult is turned away because of inability to pay. It’s a pretty nice thing we do.

Annual Report coming soon…

Oh baby…

So I’m in the beginning stages of a project for a client out of Charleston, SC. A friend of mine is a mid-wife. But she’s also an entrepreneur with a very cool concept. She’s into jewelry design and developed the Nine Month Necklace. You can read all about it here.

She’s asked me to help her redesign her packaging for this beautiful, thoughtful necklace (guys, this is a must buy for the little prego lady-talk about cool points!).

Anyway, tonight I submitted some initial concepts to her to see where she felt it should go. And to my delight she loved them all! (but will get back to me in the morning with a choice!)

My thing is-those reactions are why we are designers. It feels so good to know that you have hit the mark with a client. You’ve been able to interpret their needs or desires. I love making other people look good. Can’t wait to see which she chooses!

Cutie Pie Christmas!

So, I just finished designing a Christmas card for one of my oldest friends. Not that she’s old, but I was doing some math last night and we’ve known each other for over 20 years…That is wild to me. And where does the time go?

Funny enough, I introduced her to her husband who she thought was from ‘Boston’ while he had said ‘Bosnia’. However, it would be easy to miss that when you’re considerably shorter than his sixfootsevenness.

Since their wedding a few years ago, they produced this little cutie, Ellis. And he’s the star of the family holiday card. Will be the cutest in Nashville, TN this year!

A little holiday cheer for you…
